Ingredients: Makes 2 burgers
350g ground beef
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tsp. dried mixed herbs
1 tsp. parika
1 + 2 large egg
150g cream cheese
50g cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 tsp. chilly flakes
4 Tbsp. olive oil
1 red bell pepper
salt and pepper to taste
fresh coriander for serving
In a medium bowl add the first 4 ingredients and one egg. Mix well, leave in the bowl and divide in four.
Mix together the cream cheese, cheddar and chilly flakes. Take one 1/4 of the meat mixture and add to a burger press, if you do not have a burger press just flatten on a small plate.
Spread half of the cream cheese mixture to the middle. Place another 1/4 meat mixture over the cream cheese and enclose the burger press to seal it all together, you can easily manipulate this with your hands.
Repeat this procedure for the other burger. Heat up a small pan and add 1 Tbsp. oil, fry the burger about 6-7 minutes on each side.
While that is cooking, slice the onion, mushroom and pepper. Heat up another medium size pan with 1 Tbsp. oil and fry just until tender.
Transfer to an oven safe dish and keep warm on a low temperature. Add a Tbsp. oil and fry the eggs to your liking. Also set aside to keep warm.
When the burgers are ready to serve, place them on a warm plate and top with egg and veggies.
* This time I also added 2 Tbls. Apple Chutney to the meat mixture and the whole combination was just super delicious.
* You can also add roasted sweet peppers or olives to the cheese in the middle.
